I love this charger/transmitter! I don't have messy wires running around or some ugly bulky thing in my car. Its very unobtrusive and sleek looking even when it isn't being used. It holds your iPhone 3G securely. I've been using this for over a year with my iPhone 3G until I accidentally took it swimming with me. I bought an iPHone 4 as a replacement and found that it would not fit any of the 3 cradles that come with this. I found that it worked perfect if I removed the cradle all together, but was woried that without the support of the cradle that it would eventually damage my iPhone case. Well, I took a thin board and wrapped it in fine sandpaper and sanded the curve in the cradle to a sharp corner to match the iPhone 4 and voila! Perfect! It charges my iPhone 4 fast too!

When travelling, I take this with me for my car rental. I also take a short 12" stereo cable with me in case the rental has an AUX port. The charger has a stereo out port at the base and, using the AUX port will always sound better than FM transmitter.

For those that haven't used an FM transmitter before, don't expect perfect CD quality sound. At the best, you can achieve FM stereo quality. With this charger, I hear some static when going under high power lines. I don't think any other FM transmitter would be any better. -- Works with Iphone 4 with an easy modification

I got this FM transmitter before getting on a long road trip. I wanted to use it in my odyssey van.

- better than the previous one I got which wodnt' do anything..
- I can play you tube videos from my iphone and it'll transmit the sound

cons
- doesn't come with a stand for all iPods.. at least didn't have one for the iPod i own
- lot of disturbance in sound when driving on the freeway, esp, when i have my hands on the wheel
- not easy to operate while driving

My drives around town are so short (15 miles to work, less for errands) that the am / pm drive can be nearly all commercials on the radio so I was looking for a transmitter to play podcasts from my iPhone. That has worked out great and not worrying about stereo quality sound certainly makes finding a usable frequency easier! The re-charging feature is great given the iPhone's short battery life and my lack of charging habit. Definitely recommend this product. -- Works for me!

Sometimes the signal quality is very good. Other times it is not as good. Pretty par for the course on FM transmitters. Often I would find myself placing one finger on the side of the unit as I drive in order to boost the signal quality.

The arm is very stable and stiff and will not move unless you move it yourself. What cases me to go from this to another FM transmitter is the fact that it does not hold the phone securely. If I go over a big bump it will loosen the phone. Then all it takes is a hard turn to send the phone flying to one side or the other.

I have the thinest case made for the iPhone, and my case causes the fit to be less than ideal. If you have anything thicker than the Case-Mate Barely There, your case will not fit with this transmitter. You would be required to remove the case to use the transmitter.

I recently bought the FlexPod+. It is far superior to this case. It holds the phone securely. It has MUCH better signal quality. It is cheaper. In short, skip the Griffin and go with the FlexPod. -- Ok signal quality most of the time. Doesn't hold phone securely.
