The headunit i purchased adds perfect center piece to my dash. The touch/ proximity features are amazing blue tooth and ipod does not lag at all. The dvd screen quality could be a bit better. The settings is y itb only has 4 stars. Can't do centain backgrounds. With the style off buttons. The settings are a bit confusing but still a good headunit and i wound recomend it to someone that wants to expand the video in their car. -- good headunit
I installed this stereo over the weekend for my wife's cousin. Pretty sweet head unit.
Too bad it doesn't work with the iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0. Tested it with my 3GS with 3.1.3 and it worked perfectly both when controlling from the HU and from the iPhone itself. Attached my wife's 3GS with iOS 4 and it would not detect it. Big show stopper for me. I didn't have an iPhone 4 to test with, but if it doesn't work with the 3GS with 4.0, I can't imagine it would work with the iPhone 4.
Also tested with a older 30GB iPOD (don't know exact model) - worked but wasn't able to control music from the iPod itself (no sound would come out).
Note that I just used the regular iPhone/iPod cable and attached it to the USB port on the HU. We did not purchase the JVC iPod/iPhone cable which I believe will support video playback from the iPhone/iPod also.
Don't expect the touchscreen to be responsive like your iPhone. You have to use some pressure or your finger nails. -- Works with iPhone 3GS with 3.1.3 but not with 4.0
The receiver has great quality and sound. The only problem is the small capacity to play musics in usb drives.
It can play a maximum of 5000 files per device. Kenwood receivers can play 65025 files per device!
This is a big problem for people with lots of mp3s in flash drives. -- Great receiver with only 1 complaint
I've had this installed in my 92 Z32 TT for about five months now and my only complaint is that some times it locks up my Iphone and Ipod and I have to manually reboot my Iphone or let the battery drain out of my Ipod. Other than that the sound is great, the picture quality is awesome and the functions are easy and useful. This is absolutely the best radio I've purchased to date and would highly recommend it to anyone. -- Great all around system
I winded up buying this head unit hesitantly because of all the questions circulating about IPhone 3GS support, and found out first hand that it DOES support IPhone 3GS. Keep in mind that I bought a newer JVC Kameleon AV-77 so they must have upgraded their firmware. Anyways, both IPhone 3G and 3GS work, but as long as (and this is very important) they don't have OS 4.0 firmware on it. If you have OS 3.1.3 or less on your IPhone then it will work fine. It will even display the cover art!
My only issue is that I upgraded my IPhone to OS 4.0 recently, and there's no way to revert to an older OS because Apple no longer "signs" (in the crypto sense) older firmware. So to summarize, if you have an IPhone 3GS or 3G with OS 3.1.3 or older, then this JVC unit will support it (as long as you make sure you get a newer JVC unit). -- DOES support IPhone 3G AND 3GS
